AFFORDANCE FACULTY — Digital technology and artificial intelligenceBeing established
A faculty being established, devoted to digital technology and artificial intelligence, with EC2LT in Dakar.
Motto: Ars agendi · the art of acting
Dean: Dr Ndiaga Ba, coordinator of the École Centrale des Logiciels Libres et des Télécommunications (EC2LT) in Dakar.
Affordance, a name for know-how
The name of the faculty expresses a teaching conviction: successful training enables learners to act, by giving them know-how that they put to use at once in their professional and digital environment. The faculty works in liaison with the INTELEN research centre. Its name pays tribute to no historical figure: it designates a know-how and a method.
Partnership under way: EC2LT, Dakar
The École Centrale des Logiciels Libres et des Télécommunications, coordinated by Dr Ndiaga Ba, contributes its presence in Dakar, its technological expertise, its experience of professional training and its digital infrastructure. Its teachers organise the departments, subject to joint validation by the university’s academic heads. Saint-Louis retains institutional and academic authority over the faculty.
Fields of study
Telecommunications and networks, systems administration, cybersecurity and DevOps · multimedia, internet, communication and digital humanities · artificial intelligence and data science · language technologies and computer-assisted translation · digital learning design.

Teaching and assessment
Teaching proceeds through practical situations, dialogue and deliberation, grids of observable skills and individual action plans. The faculty combines in-person teaching in Dakar, synchronous distance learning and asynchronous learning on a digital platform, with interoperability of existing tools.
Assessment strictly respects accreditations: certificate of attendance, certificate of skills, certification or degree, each clearly stating its issuer and the conditions for obtaining it.
